Time to get high and DIY! Today we are going to be crafting a felt smart phone carrying case
You will need:
- Felt fabric or felt sheets in 2 colours
- Sewing machine (or needle and thread to do this by hand)
- Smart phone for template
- Scissors or rotary cutter or both
- 1 Button
First things first, get high!
There that's better. Now spend some time gathering all your supplies hopefully you're not too stoned and this isn't a monumental task like it was for me.
Alright everything is round up, let's get to business! Grab your phone and your fabric, place the phone on the fabric so you get an idea of what you're really doing here- making a fabric home for your smart phone.
Cut off the extra width that you wont need and leave like 1/2" seam allowance
Now to determine your length
You'll want want enough to fully cover your phone and a little bit extra to create a flap
Now to add your pot leaf. Here I have some felt I embroidered a pot leaf onto a while ago and forgot about it. You can do the same or just cut out a pot leaf from a different colour of felt to sew on there.
For my pot leaf I just ran a stitch where the veins of the leaf would be to keep it on there, you can do this or stitch all around the pot leaf depends how high you are and how much work you're into.
Speaking of being high it might be time for another bong toke. Also make sure you stick a pin in the potleaf when your sewing it to keep it in place
Alrighty then time to stitch this bitch together! Put a couple pins to keep your felt all lined up. I chose to do my stitch in a zig zag pattern cause it reminded me of the edge of a marijuana leaf.
So sew down one side
Then the other side
And along the bottom
I also decided to sew the zig zag on the flap even though you don't really need too. It's up to you bud!
Then we need a button to hold down the flap, I have thousands of buttons to choose from (inherited them from my Grandma). This is the one I chose, hopefully you found an awesome button to add.
Then you gotta cut a hole for the button to go through on the flaps. Flip the flap back over and feel where the button is cut through your flap and make the whole just big enough for your button to fit through. The button will help your phone stay in its home, it's a pretty good feature.
Pop your button through, make sure it fits and that's pretty much it.
Hopefully yours turned out just as good as mine or better! If you do complete a felted cell phone case I'd love to see it!
