You've seen it on the internet, television, in the news paper, on tv, heard it on the radio, in passing conversations. "Marijuana is a gate way drug", "You'll get addicted", "Worse for your lungs than tobacco". It's all bull shit, it's all propaganda.
According to Wikipedia the definition of propaganda is "the deliberate, systematic attempt to shape perceptions, manipulate cognitions, and direct behaviour to achieve a response that furthers the desired intent of the propagandist"
In a less lengthy explanation propaganda is brain washing. And what's the easiest way to change people's mind? With fear, scare tactics.
Have you heard of a little thing called "Reefer Madness" it was a movie produced in 1936 to "educate" people on the dangers of marijuana.
If you smoke the marijuanas you will:
- kill people
- and be raped
- have hallucinations
- become addicted
- go insane
Of course one movie wasn't enough to convince convince the public marijuana was bad for you.
So more people jumped on the "Let's lie through our teeth about marijuana" band wagon and there were more movies and anti marijuana literature.
Such a dark time in marijuana history. Thank Ganja we live in the 21st century, people have stopped creating anti marijuana propaganda, right? NOPE!
Most of us know all this is complete bull shit. We live in a time where information is available at our finger tips, it's easy to find factual information about cannabis. But not so easy to change the minds of people who have already decided cannabis is from the devils garden.
So set a good example for what a cannabis consume looks like to dispel dispel these myths. If you're around someone talking anti marijuana propaganda hit them with some simple facts! You may not change their mind right away, but hopefully hearing positive things about marijuana continuously will help, after all it's some time for positive marijuana propaganda.
